Furlough Scheme extended

Furlough Scheme extended

The government has announced that the Job Support Scheme will be postponed.  The Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (‘furlough scheme’) will instead continue to apply in England and Wales and the Chancellor has just announced that the scheme will be extended until the end of March 2021. For employees the scheme will remain largely unchanged.  The main difference is that employers can claim for any employees who were on payroll by 30 October 2020. Moreover, the Treasury has said that anyone who was made redundant after the 23rd September 2020, when the furlough replacement was announced, can be brought back on to the scheme.

The Job Retention Bonus

The extension of the furlough scheme effectively replaces the £1000 job retention bonus.
