Legal Guidance

Sometimes you can become embroiled in a legal dispute, experience family breakdown such as divorce or child custody, find yourself falling into debt, or be dealing with the aftermath of a bereavement.

It can be complicated, stressful and difficult to understand the procedures involved.

When legal worries feel heavy and complex, Paperweight is there to walk beside you. We break everything into small, clear steps, listen without judgment, explain without jargon, help you to understand your options so you can make educated decisions. With warmth and patience, we help turn what feels overwhelming into something you can manage. We can guide you through the process, support you with the collation of bundles, help you prepare for court hearings and if possible, offer a ‘McKenzie friend’ to sit quietly with you in court so you are never alone.

We can also attend benefit mandatory reconsiderations and appeals with clients.

In family law, we can on occasions facilitate pro-bono advice session with an external law firm, but this is case dependent and at the discretion of the team.

Our support is centred on process and procedure. We don’t provide formal or pro-bono legal advice and we don’t have in-house lawyers, but we’re committed to offering clear and practical procedural guidance to help you understand your options and move forward with confidence.

Disclaimer: We provide information and support on legal issues. We are not a law firm and do not provide regulated legal advice. Where appropriate, we can refer you to qualified legal professionals.

An unbiased approach and a helping hand.

Paperweight’s hallmark is one of proactive involvement. We will hold your hand and work through everything together until you are on a more stable footing. But we will ask you to help us help yourself with necessary history and accurate information.
