We are seeking a creative, organised and proactive Marketing, Communications & Digital Content Officer to lead the charity’s communications, marketing and digital content.

Location: London Head Office, Hendon
Hours: Full-time preferred (5 days per week)
Pay: £34,000–£36,000 per annum DOE

Working closely with the SMT, Trustees, staff and external partners, you will raise Paperweight’s profile, strengthen its brand and communicate the impact of its work through engaging content across digital and traditional channels.

This varied, hands-on role is ideal for someone who enjoys storytelling, building relationships and using digital tools to create compelling communications that inspire supporters, donors, stakeholders and the wider community.

Main Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver Paperweight’s communications strategy, annual campaigns and content calendar, ensuring they support organisational objectives, fundraising priorities and key events.
  • Identify new communications, digital and AI opportunities to enhance PR output, increase awareness, strengthen engagement and enhance Paperweight’s reputation.
  • Prepare regular communications reports for the SMT, using analytics to measure performance and recommend improvements.
  • Take lead in producing publications such as brochures, booklets, leaflets, annual Impact Reports and other written PR materials for the Charity, its different offices and hubs and new and existing initiatives and projects
  • Lead the promotion and delivery of Paperweight events such as talks, presentations, breakfasts, symposia, fund-raising events, working with internal events organiser(s), speakers, sponsors, the PR agency and senior stakeholders to maximise attendance, publicity and community engagement.
  • Produce organisational publications, reports and presentations as required.
  • Act as guardian of the Paperweight brand, ensuring all communications consistently reflect the charity’s values, vision and objectives.
  • Plan, create, schedule and monitor engaging content across Paperweight’s social media and digital channels.
  • Research current affairs, awareness campaigns and community issues to create regular, timely and relevant communications.
  • Produce newsletters, fundraising materials, presentations, brochures and digital campaign content.
  • Film, edit and photograph events, interviews and activities to create engaging content for social media, campaigns and the website.
  • Support the delivery and promotion of events, webinars and community engagement activities.
  • Build relationships across all Paperweight personnel and offices to identify and maintain a library of client stories, case studies and photography for communications and fundraising.
  • Maintain communications records, photography permissions and case studies within the CRM, ensuring appropriate permissions and consents are recorded.
  • Use Charitylog to support communications, fundraising and organisational reporting.
  • Support internal communications to keep colleagues informed, engaged and connected with the organisation’s work.
  • Maintain and update the Paperweight website, working with designers and developers on larger improvements where required.
  • Work closely with Paperweight’s PR and advertising agency to plan and deliver communications campaigns.
  • Prepare campaign briefs, coordinate approvals and manage communications projects.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with the Jewish press, local and regional media, journalists and editors.
  • Monitor media coverage for stories relevant to Paperweight’s work and proactively identify and promote stories, case studies and expert commentary that raise Paperweight’s profile and maintain an up-to-date media contact database
  • Undertake appropriate training and continuous professional development.
  • Attend meetings and take minutes where required.
  • Undertake any other duties reasonably required within the scope of the role or to provide general assistance to the Charity.
  • Occasional evening and weekend working may be required to support events and community activities. Time off in lieu will be given where appropriate.

Skills & Experience

  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, with strong copywriting, storytelling and relationship-building abilities.
  • Able to work collaboratively with colleagues, volunteers, agencies, consultants, suppliers, media, stakeholders and community partners, with a positive ‘can-do’ attitude.
  • Strategic thinker with excellent organisational and project management skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to proofread work to a high standard before submission to the SMT.
  • Experience creating engaging multi-media digital content, including social media, photography and video.
  • Confidence using AI tools, including ChatGPT, to enhance content creation, improve efficiency and support research.
  • Confident using Microsoft Office, CRM systems and website content management systems.
  • Experience in a communications or marketing role, preferably within the charity sector.
  • Experience producing annual or impact reports.
  • Experience using Canva, Adobe Express or similar design software.
