We are seeking a passionate Student Coordinator to drive engagement, build connections and bring the NextGen programme to life!

Location: Hybrid with occasional travel for on-site delivery
Hours: 8 hours a week
Pay: Max £5288 per annum (according to hours worked)

In this exciting and varied role, you’ll:

  • Support the delivery and development of the NextGen programme across UK campuses
  • Coordinate and deliver student engagement activities, including events, presentations and outreach
  • Build and maintain relationships with student organisations, universities and community stakeholders
  • Promote Paperweight’s services and LifeReady! courses to students and young adults
  • Assist with the recruitment, onboarding and coordination of student volunteers (PaperMates)
  • Support marketing, communications and record-keeping, including social media and programme tracking

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Currently studying at university (ideally in their second year or equivalent)
  • Passionate about supporting young people, with a strong understanding of the Jewish student experience and community landscape
  • An excellent communicator, confident engaging with individuals and groups
  • Proactive, self-motivated and able to manage their own workload
  • Digitally confident, including use of social media and online platforms
  • Passionate about supporting young people and contributing to community life

Duties will include but are not limited to assisting the National Services Coordinator and Manchester Regional Director with:

  • Assisting with the organisation and delivery of NextGen presentations, campus events and student engagement activities.
  • Maintaining a calendar of key student engagement opportunities, such as Freshers’ Fairs, Careers Fairs, student wellbeing events and other campus activities where NextGen could engage with students.
  • Contacting UK Jewish student organisations e.g. UJS, UJC, JLGB, to generate connections with key stakeholders.
  • Promoting Paperweight’s services to young people across the country who would benefit.
  • Supporting the recruitment, onboarding and coordination of student volunteers offering support as a be-friender/‘Papermate’ to elderly and isolated members of the Jewish community in London and around the UK.
  • Supporting the promotion of LifeReady! Courses for young people to teach financial literacy, employ-ment contracts and tenancy basics
  • Managing student sign-ups and maintaining records of engagement, volunteers and programme par-ticipation.
  • Assisting with social media promotion and exposure of NextGen aims and objectives to young people around the UK.
  • Helping to create innovative and appropriate advertising, programming and events appealing to young people.
  • Researching and designing new Paperweight leaflets specifically aimed at young people.
  • Explaining to young volunteers the personal benefits and long-term advantages of volunteering with Paperweight, particularly for their future career prospects.
  • Visiting different University sites around the country to make presentations to students promoting the NextGen project and engaging students in its various strands

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • A knowledge of the Jewish student experience and landscape
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills, including the ability to deliver presentations and speak confidently to groups
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • A proactive and self-motivated approach to work.
  • Confidence engaging with students, Rabbinic couples and building relationships
  • Digitally proficient with strong IT skills
  • A genuine interest in supporting young people and strengthening the Jewish community
  • In their second year of University, or if their degree is longer than 3 years, they should not be in their first or final year.

The following would be advantageous but are not essential:

  • Involvement in Jewish student life (eg. J-Soc, UJS or other student organisations).
  • Experience organising events or student activities.
  • Confident using social media and digital platforms.
  • Experience working with volunteers or community projects.
  • An interest in community development or social impact work.
  • A driver’s licence and access to a vehicle.
