Non-means tested benefit for parents of children up to age 16, or 20 if in full time education or training
Parents or carers of children under 16, or under 20 if they are still in education or training, can receive £27.05 a week for their eldest child and £17.90 for any other children.
There is no limit on the number of children for which Child Benefit can be claimed. Child Benefit can be claimed in addition to the Child Element of a Universal Credit claim.
Child Benefit is a non-means tested benefit, however if you or your partner earns more than £60,000 per year you may be required to pay the High-Income Child Benefit Charge. This means you’ll be paying back some or all the Child Benefit you have received.
